The Ruin of Bob
The Ruin of Bob is a poetic reflection on domesticity. Super 8 film montage of a suburban Dublin home is intertwinned with a story about habitat, boundaries and the consequences of comfort. In 1837 a native robin red breast risked his life and the lives of his bird family to take sanctuary in a potting shed in the public garden. There are many rewards to nesting in this busy space, not least the attention and admiration of humans. But as this bird relaxes into domestic bliss, he is oblivious to the hazards of his new lifestyle.
