Red Cheeks
An Irish presenter performs a series of pieces to camera at the locations of three peripheral Irish Cultural institutions in London: Irish state television’s (RTE) office at Millbank in Westminster, the official address of an organisation called Irish Contemporary Art in Kensington, and the London Irish Women’s Centre in Stoke Newington. Adopting the stance of a news reporter the presenter’s delivers an earnest narrative that seemlessly slips from generalised information about the sites to anecdotes and connections to the artist. At the RTE location, we are told about the artist’s first British television appearance; at The London Irish Women’s Centre we hear about Deignan’s altercation with a blind elderly racist and at the possibly fictitious site of Irish Contemporary Art we hear about the artist’s interaction with an artwork at Freize Art Fair.
